Push - Energy Drink Brand

Project Summary:
Claror is a custom sans-serif typeface created as a modern reinterpretation of Gothic No. 38 Regular. Designed in Illustrator and built from the ground up, Claror emphasizes clarity and balance. Its name comes from the Latin word for “clarity” or “certainty,” directly reflecting its clean structure and visual tone.

Design Thought:
While Gothic No. 38 Regular has a rigid and condensed industrial feel, Claror was developed to soften and modernize that approach. The redesign involved opening up letterforms, adjusting x-height, widening apertures, and smoothing out angular joins to improve legibility and friendliness. Characters such as the “a,” “g,” and “e” were particularly refined for readability and personality. The result is a more versatile and contemporary typeface that maintains the authority of its origin while shedding its mechanical stiffness.

Color & Style:
Displayed in a neutral black, Claror is a clean sans-serif with wide usability. Its geometric base gives it structure, while its optical adjustments make it feel more human and readable. The typeface is designed to scale well across sizes—from mobile UI to editorial headlines—without losing its clarity or spacing integrity.

Goal:
To challenge traditional type design principles by evolving an existing font into something functionally improved and stylistically distinct. Claror showcases type development from research and sketching through digital drawing and refinement, with careful attention to proportions, legibility, and visual rhythm.
